Your rank changes every few miles.
Google weighs three things for local results: relevance, distance, and prominence. Distance means the Map Pack a homeowner sees depends on where they are standing, so a single “you rank #2” hides most of the story.
Your pin is not your service area
Mowing routes and install jobs run miles from the shop. The map shows how far your visibility actually reaches before a competitor takes over.
The pattern tells you the problem
Strong at home and weak everywhere else usually means you are leaning on distance. Weak spots in the middle of your area usually mean a competitor has stronger reviews, categories, or local pages there.
The gaps are where the work is
A spot where you do not show up is a homeowner calling someone else. Those are the neighborhoods to go after first.
One search, 49 answers.
We run your search term from every point on a grid centered on your Google Business Profile and record where your listing lands at each one.
About the free heatmap
How accurate is a Google Maps heatmap?
Each dot is a real Google Maps search for your term, run from that spot, so it shows what a homeowner there would have seen at that moment. Rankings move day to day, so read it as a snapshot. The pattern (where you are strong, where you fade) is more reliable than any single dot.
My business is a service-area business with no address showing. Does it still work?
Yes. Google keeps a map point for every listing even when the address is hidden, and we center the grid on that point. If that point sits somewhere odd, like your home instead of your shop, the map will show it, and that is useful to know too.
Why 7.5 miles?
Because that is where the story is. We scanned 14 real lawn and landscape listings and found that top 3 visibility usually ends within about 2.5 miles of the map pin, so the points sit 2.5 miles apart and the map reaches 7.5 miles each way, 15 miles across. That shows exactly where you are strong and where you fade. Most of our clients work well beyond that, so on a strategy call we run a wider scan across your whole service area.
Why can I only scan one search term?
Each scan is 49 live Google searches, so the free version runs the one term that matters most to you and finishes in under a minute. Most lawn and landscape companies have three to six services worth tracking. We run those on a strategy call.
What if I cannot find my business in step 1?
Type the name exactly as it appears on Google Maps and add your city and state. If it still does not come up, the listing may be new, suspended, or named differently than you expect. Book a strategy call and we will look it up with you.
What happens with my information?
We email you the link to your map and keep it on file so you can come back to it. Someone from our team may reach out about your results. You can opt out any time. We do not sell your information.
Can I use it again?
One free scan per business each week. Come back weekly and you will see how your map moved since last time. If your business was scanned in the last 7 days, you will see that map and the day your next scan unlocks. For every service you sell, scanned now, book a strategy call.
Turn the map into a plan.
